Tuesday, June 9, 2015 - 5:00pm

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to celebrate with us the launch of HB, a magazine dedicated to contemporary drawing, and featuring works by Patrick Bernatchez, Catherine Bolduc, Shauna Born, Shary Boyle Michael DeForge, Annie Descôteaux, Virginie Jourdain., Véronique Lévesque-Pelletier, Paul P., Ed Pien, Annie Pootoogook, Kananginak Pootoogook, and Jean-Luc Verna.

For this fourth edition, HB wanted to explore eroticism in drawing and all of the ambiguities that might emerge from this theme when we scratch the surface. We sought the explicit and the suggestive, the sensitive and the delicate, the light and the intense, the non-threatening and the disturbing, revealing through such contradictions all that eroticism can evoke for those who attempt to grasp it before it slips through their fingers.

To multiply our chances to meet you, we are proposing launches in several cities in Quebec over the upcoming weeks. All the events are free and open to all.

In Québec city: Friday June 5, 7–9 pm at La Chambre Blanche, 185, Christophe-Colomb East St.
In St-Jérôme: Sunday June 7, 2pm at the Musée d’art Contemporain des Laurentides, 101, Curé-Labelle’s place.
In Montréal: Tuesday June 9, 5pm at Formats Art Bookstore, 2 Sainte-Catherine E St., 3rd floor.
In Gatineau: Wednesday June 17, 6.30pm at AXENÉO7, 80, Hanson St.

About HB

HB is a Québec-Canadian magazine dedicated to contemporary drawing. We showcase the work of a wide range of artists, from the hard-to-miss who have made their mark on the artistic landscape and continue to shape it; to marginalised artists; young artists whose practices move and provoke; artists who draw in hiding; and artists who by sheer misfortune have as yet enjoyed little exposure. HB is structured so that each page is one of a series of visual sequences. Therein HB is a a space for exchange which gives precedence to imagery over text.

HB was initiated and continues to be produced by Arprim, articule, AXENÉO7, Centre CLARK, Joyce Yahouda Gallery and Galerie SAW Gallery, all who disseminate, promote and support contemporary practices in the visual arts.
