FREE PORTRAIT PAINTING [EN]
Kristi Ropeleski
As part of an ongoing piece, Kristi Ropeleski is painting people’s portraits, the sitter becomes the owner of the portrait.
“This piece is a way to question how we consume and value art, the possibilities of collaboration and alternative ways of disseminating art. In its most simple form, the main goal of this work is to question how art is consumed and how this produces cultural values. It is also a way of looking at creative collaboration and the nuances of our relationships with objects, in this case, a portrait.”
Kristi Ropeleski is a Montreal based artist and has been exhibiting her work for over ten years internationally. Her work focuses on issues inherent to representational painting within a broader cultural context. She is faculty at Dawson College and is on the Board of Directors at articule.
