Wednesday, July 1, 2015 - 12:00am to Friday, July 31, 2015 - 12:00am

This window project features works by some of the artists and collectives who will participate in this year’s convergence: Jessica Sabogal, Melanie Cervantes and Jesus Barraza of the Dignidad Rebelde collective, the RISE: Radical Indigenous Survivance & Empowerment collective, and Lianne Charlie. These artists acknowledge that the history of Turtle Island is based on colonial narratives that disproportionally affect the living conditions of Indigenous women and women of colour. By offering them a platform, it allows these artists to continue to affirm their identities and their capacities to survive the assimilation of their cultures. We can think here of the work Exist & resist & Indigenize & decolonize by Melanie Cervantes.

Following the residency, there will be a discussion on the place of women and feminism in the street art world, on Thursday, August 20, along with a workshop of cultural appropriations of Indigenous identities, on Saturday, August 22.
