at articule

As part of the exhibition WORLD CUP!, Degane Sougal and Sheena Hoszko will discuss in an interview-style conversation football as it relates to resistance and community building, with a potential splash of art history.

Degane Sougal holds a BA, MA  and MSc Applied in Occupational Therapy. Her background in humanities has allowed her to integrate critical theory to OT practice. As an occupational therapist, she works primarily in mental health and chronic pain using recovery based practice guidelines. She is a contributing professional at Portes Oranges, an inter-professional clinical that aims to offer sliding scale services. Degane is also an avid football player in Montreal, playing for her club ASUF since 2011. Finally, she is an occasional football writer and blogger and you can currently find her arguing about football tactics and culture on twitter @Deganes

Sheena Hoszko is a sculptor, anti-prison organizer, and settler living and working in Tio'tia:ke (Montréal), in Kanien'kehá:ka territory. Selected exhibitions include Centre Clark and La Centrale (Montreal), A Space (Toronto), Artspace (Peterborough), The New Gallery (Calgary), and Blackwood Gallery (Mississauga). Upcoming projects include a talk at the Queens Museum (NYC) as part of Open Engagement, and a sculptural work to be presented at the Musée d'art de Joliette (QC). She is also an avid sci-fi fan.
